The lead recipient of GEOFFREY BEENE's charitable contributions is the GEOFFREY BEENE CANCER RESEARCH CENTER at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. This Center is the core research facility at Sloan-Kettering and is dedicated to support innovative research approaches to the treatment and cure of cancer. The total value of combined GEOFFREY BEENE donations to cancer, thus far, exceed $106,000,000.
G. Thompson Hutton, the Trustee of the GEOFFREY BEENE FOUNDATION and President of GEOFFREY BEENE, LLC, has orchestrated the activities to build and support this ambitious cancer research initiative. "The hallmark of the GEOFFREY BEENE CANCER RESEARCH CENTER at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is its focus on revolutionary new research approaches across a variety of cancers, strategies that will lead to prevention through improved diagnostics and enhanced quality of life treatments toward the ultimate goal of making cancer a more manageable and perhaps one day, a curable disease."
GEOFFREY BEENE also supports the fight against Alzheimer's disease with the GEOFFREY BEENE GIVES BACKĀ® Alzheimer's Initiative, established in 2007. This national initiative is focused on "getting ahead of the future" with early diagnostics, genetics, biomarker research and public awareness campaigns as a "wakeup call" to the pending epidemic of our time. Our mission is to accelerate public awareness and inspire personal engagement in the early diagnosis, treatment and management of Alzheimer's disease. Use this Memory Survey to help someone in your family.
Additional medical-based causes GEOFFREY BEENE supports include the American Heart Association through Macy's "Go Red for women" campaign, American Diabetes Association through the Father's Day Mother's Day Council, Rally for Research through the Alzheimer's Association, and many others.
GEOFFREY BEENE and the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund
The YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund and the GEOFFREY BEENE FOUNDATION have formed a $3 million, five-year strategic alliance to further the mutual goal of expanding support for students seeking careers in the Fashion Industry. Since 2008, the Fashion Scholarship Fund annually grants four $25K "Geoffrey Beene National Scholarship Awards" to enterprising students majoring in fashion (design, merchandising, finance, marketing, retailing and liberal arts). Each year, these awards are presented at the FSF Geoffrey Beene Scholarship Awards Dinner to the most outstanding students identified among the FSF's 28 partnering colleges and universities across the U.S.
GEOFFREY BEENE and the CFDA
A $5 million pledge from the GEOFFREY BEENE FOUNDATION in 2007 greatly expanded the CFDA's core scholarship program by $2.5 million. This generous donation significantly increased existing CFDA educational grants, and funded the establishment of a merit-based $25,000 GEOFFREY BEENE DESIGN SCHOLAR AWARD - to identify the most exemplary, innovative women's wear design student, based on specific guidelines.
This prestigious new design award program brings the work of the legendary American fashion designer Geoffrey Beene into classrooms at the country's leading design colleges and universities. A specialized teaching curriculum created for the GEOFFREY BEENE DESIGN SCHOLAR AWARD challenges students to look beyond conforming to trends and business restraints in order to advance the art form. Only the top two junior students from each of the participating schools are invited to submit a portfolio for consideration. This competitive award is based solely on merit as judged by a prestigious panel of industry experts.

The musicians you'll know – they're icons. As for the other guys, they're the Doctors whose work has brought us closer to cures for Cancer, HIV/AIDS, and Alzheimer's disease. These fellows won't set your soul on fire like Sheryl Crow, but they're lighting up the future with something just as powerful. Hope.
